In February this year, Incline welcomed four new faces to take part in the newly redesigned six month long New Analyst Training Programme (read more about this programme here: https://lnkd.in/gBdp7i9). It was a great pleasure for Incline to have such an intelligent, charismatic and innovative group of individuals join the team; with all four holding degrees from South Africa’s most prestigious institutions, each with a strong affinity for problem solving and mathematics.
From a joint perspective, the highlights of the training programme include being exposed to a variety of programming languages, developing workplace skills while working on an assortment of real project based exercises, and gaining tools which will be useful regardless of the direction in which careers develop. In many ways the six month internship has been the bridge necessary for university graduates to transition into a workplace; by working on challenging real problems, the interns have been able to apply their excellent theoretical backgrounds in a practical sense, while receiving constructive criticism and guidance from the analysts.
Incline’s programme also pairs one analyst with each intern to assist with adjusting to a professional environment, providing further technical guidance where necessary, or simply joining the interns in a round of FIFA in the games room. Siphiwo in particular noted that the mentor programme was of great help to him, and valued the extra mile analysts were willing to go to provide direction where needed.
Incline is always looking to improve its training programme, and as such discussed potential areas of development within each module as well as the overall training programme, and which helpful features should remain in future programmes, and will be incorporating this for the next intake.
Since completing the intern programme, Jan, Sinoxolo and Siphiwo have joined Incline as full time analysts in the Media, and Reporting & Automation teams. Early on in the programme, it became clear that Ryan’s real passion lay not in analytics, but instead he proved himself to be a creative programmer and subsequently joined Incline’s sister IT company, TechnoCore, as a developer.
We wish the new analysts the very best of success in their careers, and continue to enjoy their presence at the office.
